Fantasy WC: Best Budget Strikers This Summer

published 2026-06-15 by Bjorn

With the Premier League now in its annual summer hiatus until mid-August, attention has turned to the World Cup, both for fans and fantasy managers. And if you've already attempted to craft your team ahead of this summer's showdown in North America, you'll already know the importance of a budget striker.

The planet's three best strikers will all be in action at the World Cup, namely Harry Kane, Kylian Mbappe, and Erling Haaland. Online betting sites make those three the men to beat when it comes to the tournament's top goalscorer. The latest World Cup odds at Bovada see Mbappe listed as the narrow 11/2 favourite, then followed by Kane at 13/2, and finally Haaland at a more distant 14/1. FIFA.com's Fantasy World Cup game also has them listed as the three top strikers, pricing each as the most expensive player in the game at an eye-watering cost of $10.5m.

Most fantasy managers will be picking two of the three, leaving some of their $100m budget to spend on the rest of the squad. As such, a budget striker will be required to round out your three striker lineup. But which budget option should you choose? Here are our three picks.

Fantasy WC: Best Budget Strikers This Summer

Endrick - Brazil: $5.5m

Teenage sensation Endrick will almost certainly lead the line for record five-time champions Brazil this summer, pretty much guaranteeing goals for the young star. Inexplicably, however, he can be scooped up for as little as $5.5m, cheaper than Jordan's Mousa Al Tamari, Bosnia's Jovo Lukic, and the USA's Ricardo Pepi. The latter two of that trio aren't even expected to be starting strikers this summer, showing just how cheap Endrick truly is compared to the rest of the market.

The Brazilian prodigy has struggled throughout his first 18 months at Real Madrid, netting just one league goal across 23 appearances. However, a January loan move to French outfit Lyon has immediately reignited his stagnating career. The 19-year-old netted eight goals and provided a further eight assists throughout his six months with the club, and that form has carried over to the national team.

Endrick netted the late winner in the recent 2-1 friendly triumph against Egypt, while providing two assists in the 3-1 victory against Croatia back at the start of April. Leading the line for Brazil and with the brilliant duo of Vinicius Junior and Raphinha feeding him chances from wide positions, fantasy managers should get incredible value on their $5.5m investment.

Yoane Wissa - DR Congo: $6.2m

DR Congo had to fight through murderer's row just to make it to the World Cup. After finishing as runners-up to Senegal in CAF's group stage, the Leopards had to beat both African heavyweights Cameroon and Nigeria in playoffs, and then Jamaica in the intercontinental playoffs just to seal their spot at the tournament. Now they are here, and many are writing them off.

We're here to tell you one thing: Don't. The Congolese have plenty of current and former Premier League talent in their starting lineup. Defenders Axel Tuanzebe, Chancel Mbemba, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka form a staunch backline, while highly-rated Sunderland midfielder Noah Sadiki lines up in the centre of the pitch. But it's Newcastle United striker Yoane Wissa that has us the most excited.

The former Brentford man is available to fantasy managers for just $6.2m, and if he is at peak fitness, that could well be a bargain. While he did struggle with injuries in his maiden season at St. James' Park, Wissa was absolutely unstoppable with former club Brentford, netting 20 goals throughout a breakout 2024/25 season. After returning to the Magpies' first team fold at the end of the season, he should now be match-fit, and with former Villarreal man Cedric Bakambu alongside him, he too could score goals for fun this summer.

Folarin Balogun - USA: $6m

The United States will be hosting the vast majority of the World Cup, and as such, expectations are higher than ever, no matter how misplaced they may be. Reaching the quarterfinals would be considered quite the achievement for Mauricio Pochettino's men, even if fans in the country are somehow expecting them to win the tournament outright. If they are to mount a deep run, then striker Folarin Balogun will be the man tasked with scoring the goals to propel them through the knockout rounds.

The former Arsenal youngster has been in fine fettle in Ligue 1 this season, netting 19 goals in all competitions, including three against Champions League winners and arguably the best club side on the planet today, Paris Saint-Germain. For the USMNT, he has found goals somewhat hard to come by in recent friendlies, but in a group consisting of Türkiye, Paraguay, and Australia, he is expected to have a plethora of opportunities to find the back of the net.

The Americans are the bookies' favourites to win Group D, and with captain Christian Pulisic alongside, Balogun will have plenty of chances created for him. If his Monaco form is anything to go by, he will certainly take a few of them.
